In fact, there’s only one level where you can even fall to your death, most of the time you’ll simply end up hanging over the side, useful for attacking enemies that approach in that manner though leaving you vulnerable from overhead attacks. For starters, combat takes the fore while platforming and vehicle gimmicks take a back-seat, so that challenge is now almost entirely derived from handling enemies rather than memorizing movement patterns or completing precision jumps. Now, let player 2 continue, and once again use up all his lives.
Turn on the second player, and defeat him to use up all his lives. Start a 2-player game and play until the end of level 1-1, but don't enter level 1-2 yet.
To start with 5 lives, hold Up, A and B simultaneously and press Start at the title screen or continue screen.
